Welcome our new research engineer, Erik van Haeringen

We are pleased to welcome Erik van Haeringen to the Data Donation Infrastructure (D3I) as a research engineer and postdoctoral researcher.

Within the Data Donation Infrastructure (D3I), Erik works on further developing the platform and supporting researchers in conducting innovative studies using donated digital trace data. He also contributes to the cAlibrate project at ASCoR, where he studies trust in conversational generative AI.

Alongside his work at the University of Amsterdam, Erik is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. As part of the SMART project, he contributed to the development of the ArtroseCoach app and studies how people engage with digital interventions that support healthier lifestyles.

Erik holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, where he used computational methods to study emotion contagion in groups. His interdisciplinary research combines computer science and behavioural science, with a focus on human–computer interaction, affective computing, and computational approaches to understanding social behaviour.
